**Men's Medium Waist Tip: If you are taller than 5'9", you want to get the Medium-Long size.  If you are 5'9" or shorter, the Medium will be fine.

Sewn-Down Pleats

All Sport Kilts are pleated, but you can give your kilt that custom fitted shape with a leaner profile by having us sew down the pleats.

The first 4-5 inches of pleats (measured from the waistband) are sewn down along the knife edge of the pleat (vertically). This provides a more refined look and makes for easier care and pressing.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept returns for customized goods, i.e., belt loops, sewn pleats, custom length. Please make sure of your measurements!

Buckle Closure

You can add two 1" wide black leather straps and nickle-plated buckles to the opening end of your Sport Kilt. A functional, traditional looking adjustable double strap.  You can also choose a Nylon Buckle Strap option as well. 

While all Sport Kilts are secured with Velcro at the waistband, you can give your kilt that custom look (and added security) by adding buckles and straps.

Also note: If you opt for the Buckles and straps, we HIGHLY recommend adding the sewn-down-pleats option as they compliment each other.

Belt Loops

Although you don't need a belt to hold up your kilt, we'll be glad to add 'em so you can wear your favorite belt.

Belt loops can also be used to thread your sporran "chain-belt" through. This is the traditional use of belt loops on a kilt.

Fringe

Now you can have the opening side of your Sport Kilt fringed for extra flair!

Pockets

Now you can have us add 2 hidden side pockets to your Sport Kilt. You won’t even know they’re there unless you’re looking for them, or you’ve got your hands in your pockets.

A great custom option for those that have to have pockets on their kilts!

Please allow us a couple of days to customize your kilt with pockets before your order ships.

Custom Length

Use a measuring tape, instead of using your pant size. This will determine your waist measurement.

The ideal kilt length: While kneeling, measure from the top of your waist (where you'd wear your kilt) to the floor. Some say your kilt should just brush against the ground when you are kneeling. Of course personal preference is the rule! Have it YOUR way.

Note:  Ultimate and Commando kilts tend to sit higher on the waist (more like a traditional kilt) than our standrard Sport Kilts. Therefore, you may want to add an extra inch or two in length to compensate. If in doubt, be assured that ninety five percent of the time, our standard size Medium-long, large, XL, abd XXL length of 22.5 inches will fit most guys 5' 10" and 6' 2" tall.

    Irisher for a descendent from Clan O’hUaruisce of Dal Riada. I’ve been wearing a Forbes Sportkilt for years, but after much research and a pilgrimage/vision quest to the West Highlands, Isles and Northern Ireland it became apparent that us Watters were not actually Clan Forbes after all. Our family colors are the blue & green of the Irisher (perfect), and inclusive of the County Antrim Tartan that is home and kit of our current family (The Rowte as it’s called). I am Irish but more accurately Celtic of Dal Riada, and also Lakota of Turtle Island (USA). A bit more trivia, my 5X great grandfather, James Watters was a master distiller at Bushmills. I was treated like royalty when I visited there. };-) ☘️

    My new Irisher Kilt is great
    Well, I didn’t order a kilt with straps/buckles, but looks as if I got one anyway! Perhaps I checked a box I wasn’t aware of. I carefully snipped them off and now, all is excellent. The fringe is a wonderful option, I will now add it to all sport kilts I order in the future – really completes the look. The blue color is brilliant. I’ve been a customer for a couple of years now and will never stop! thanks a million.

    Head turner
    I wore my Sportkilt to Chicago recently and it caused many to turn to get a second view. The colors are vibrant and the quality is great. I will be wearing this one a bit more than my 16 oz 8 yard family tartan kilt. The Sportkilt is much easier to travel with and lighter to wear.

    Great Looking, Super Comfortable
    I wanted something in an Irish theme and was really taken by this design. It looked even better when I received it than it did in the pictures. I broke it in taking my father in law out on a family outing to celebrate his 88th birthday. The kilt is very comfortable, easy to clean and definitely gets noticed.

    Seamus also provided excellent turnaround time on my kilt. I would definitely recommend it.

    great kilt
    hi, love my new Irisher Sport Kilt. Its well made and shows great attention to detail.
    My one suggestion would be to offer the XL in more than one length. I needed the XL because of a 40in waist not because I’m tall. At 5’8″ the kilt ends below my knees. 2″ shorter would have been perfect and given the kilt a 5 rating.
