**Men's Medium Waist Tip: If you are taller than 5'9", you want to get the Medium-Long size.  If you are 5'9" or shorter, the Medium will be fine.

Belt Loops

Although you don’t need a belt to hold up your kilt, we’ll be glad to add ’em so you can wear your favorite belt.

Belt loops can also be used to thread your sporran “chain-belt” through. This is the traditional use of belt loops on a kilt.

Please note: We cannot accept returns for customized goods, i.e., belt loops, sewn pleats, custom length. Please measure carefully!

Pockets

Now you can have us add 2 hidden side pockets to your Sport Kilt. You won’t even know they’re there unless you’re looking for them, or you’ve got your hands in your pockets.

A great custom option for those that have to have pockets on their kilts!

Please allow us a couple of days to customize your kilt with pockets before your order ships.

Custom Length *

Use a measuring tape, instead of using your pant size. This will determine your waist measurement.

The ideal kilt length: While kneeling, measure from the top of your waist (where you'd wear your kilt) to the floor. Some say your kilt should just brush against the ground when you are kneeling. Of course personal preference is the rule! Have it YOUR way.

Note:  Ultimate and Commando kilts tend to sit higher on the waist (more like a traditional kilt) than our standrard Sport Kilts. Therefore, you may want to add an extra inch or two in length to compensate. If in doubt, be assured that ninety five percent of the time, our standard size Medium-long, large, XL, abd XXL length of 22.5 inches will fit most guys 5' 10" and 6' 2" tall.

Description

Murphy Works Kilt, also known as the Tara Tartan.  One of the most prolific surnames in all of Ireland.

“The Works Kilt”  is our world-famous Sport Kilt with three custom options already included: Sewn Down Pleats, Fringed front panel edge, and leather buckle strap closures.

The material is the same great Sport Kilt poly-blend (no itch!) fabric with superb “swing” and “drape”. It’s Machine washable, non-wool and holds a crisp pleat well. 

Each also features our original velcro closure, and elastic in the waistband for comfort and fit, with just a bit of give. Each includes a inside stash pocket 5×6″ behind the front panel.

Please allow about 3-5 days to complete, plus shipping time.  Longer than standard length kilts are made from scratch, and can take up to 2-3 weeks to complete.

Please note: Since this is a custom made garment, generally we cannot accept returns or exchanges, unless we make a mistake. However, we want everybody to be happy with their kilt, so let us know if you have sizing issues once you receive your kilt.  Please measure carefully.  If you need a longer length kilt, or a larger model than what we offer online, feel free to call in your order to 1-800-451-KILT.

    Excellent quality everyday kilt for an outstanding price
    My first Sport Kilt, delivered as promised, and made exactly as ordered. Construction quality is excellent. I really like the slash pockets option, because that allows a sporran to be optional. The elastic in the back combined with a heavy duty velcro waistband elsewhere and leather straps ensure a good fit on my less than perfect elderly torso. The synthetic fabric has a nice soft feel, and drapes better than I expected. For maintenance, tags say 65/35 poly/acetate, machine washable or dry clean, but their website says washable “except for the leather straps”. I presume that means since I ordered the straps option, I’m stuck with dry clean only on this kilt, although I’ve never sent anything with leather straps to a dry cleaner, so I’m not sure the straps would survive that. Might have been smarter to go without the straps for an everyday working type kilt, to allow throwing it in the washer.
