**Men's Medium Waist Tip: If you are taller than 5'9", you want to get the Medium-Long size.  If you are 5'9" or shorter, the Medium will be fine.

Sewn-Down Pleats

All Sport Kilts are pleated, but you can give your kilt that custom fitted shape with a leaner profile by having us sew down the pleats.

The first 4-5 inches of pleats (measured from the waistband) are sewn down along the knife edge of the pleat (vertically). This provides a more refined look and makes for easier care and pressing.

PLEASE NOTE: We cannot accept returns for customized goods, i.e., belt loops, sewn pleats, custom length. Please make sure of your measurements!

Buckle Closure

You can add two 1" wide black leather straps and nickle-plated buckles to the opening end of your Sport Kilt. A functional, traditional looking adjustable double strap.  You can also choose a Nylon Buckle Strap option as well. 

While all Sport Kilts are secured with Velcro at the waistband, you can give your kilt that custom look (and added security) by adding buckles and straps.

Also note: If you opt for the Buckles and straps, we HIGHLY recommend adding the sewn-down-pleats option as they compliment each other.

Fringe

Now you can have the opening side of your Sport Kilt fringed for extra flair!

Pockets

Now you can have us add 2 hidden side pockets to your Sport Kilt. You won’t even know they’re there unless you’re looking for them, or you’ve got your hands in your pockets.

A great custom option for those that have to have pockets on their kilts!

Please allow us a couple of days to customize your kilt with pockets before your order ships.

Belt Loops

Although you don't need a belt to hold up your kilt, we'll be glad to add 'em so you can wear your favorite belt.

Belt loops can also be used to thread your sporran "chain-belt" through. This is the traditional use of belt loops on a kilt.

Please note: We cannot accept returns for customized goods, i.e., belt loops, sewn pleats, custom length. Please measure carefully!

Custom Length

Use a measuring tape, instead of using your pant size. This will determine your waist measurement.

The ideal kilt length: While kneeling, measure from the top of your waist (where you'd wear your kilt) to the floor. Some say your kilt should just brush against the ground when you are kneeling. Of course personal preference is the rule! Have it YOUR way.

Note:  Ultimate and Commando kilts tend to sit higher on the waist (more like a traditional kilt) than our standrard Sport Kilts. Therefore, you may want to add an extra inch or two in length to compensate. If in doubt, be assured that ninety five percent of the time, our standard size Medium-long, large, XL, abd XXL length of 22.5 inches will fit most guys 5' 10" and 6' 2" tall.

    5 Eagle Scouts in Kilts
    My son received his Eagle Scout rank in the summer of 2016 but wanted to delay his court of honor until two boys in his patrol with whom he had been in Scouting since they all were 6 received theirs. Two more boys ( twins) got their Eagle rank as well. 4 out of 5 agreed to do the ceremony in kilts. As Scoutmaster I ordered the “official” BSA kilt two days before and it arrived! My son convinced the last holdout. I and the other two dads plus all 5 boys, the minister and the master of ceremonies and the bagpiper were all in kilts. Thanks to the great service by Sportkilts we were 100% for this important event. Well over half the kilts worn were quality Sportkilts that day.

    Fantastic Kilt!
    This is my first kilt! It fits perfectly, and looks awesome. I bought this to wear with my Scout uniform at Courts of Honor and ceremonies.     Calling all Scouts! All Scouts and Scouters regardless of background may wear the MacLaren tartan by permission of their former clan chief William F. Dubois MacLaren. So, if you are a Scout, have been a Scout, a Scout Leader or Scout supporter, this is the tartan and . . . Sport Kilt is for you. Dressed up with a belt and sporran, it looks great with both the traditional BSA Boy Scout khaki and with BSA Venturing green shirts. I wear it at Courts of Honor, as a Camp Commissioner and on hikes. It’s easy to care for and Best Of All, it’s easy on the wallet!

    You guys nailed the extra length on my recent McLaren Tartan order, and squeezed in delivery for myself and all of my fellow Scouters of “normal” heights who ordered for this same ceremony. I still owe you a group pic.
