Great for day or evening wear, the Argyll Jacket is a little less formal than the Prince Charlie Jacket
Features include 100% virgin wool, fully satin lined with decorative silver-tone button closure. (Nor to be buttoned during wear). In addition, matching buttons adorn the cuffs and each of the side pockets.
This Scottish designed jacket has side vents, pleated decorative gauntlet cuffs and is topped off with braided epaulets on the shoulder.
5 button waistcoat (vest) is included with this product.
I'm always leary of buying sight unseen, but this jacket is comparable to jackets that are much more expensive. It fit well and looks great, even came with a waist coat and storage bag. I wore it to our founders day dinner and got many compliments.
I picked up the Argyll jacket and vest combo to round-out my outfit. The jacket fits european in the arms (high armpits) and was really loose in the waist. I have since had it taken in a bit. The vest was far too tight to match the coat size! I would suggest spending a little extra and buying a separate 5-button vest. I am very greatful to have done so. This is my only real issue aside from the fact that the coat is basic quality, but that is what I expected.
Ordered my Argyle Jacket and Vest recently. Delivered promptly in good condition. A little challenging to button/unbutton the square buttons and maybe-to-small button-holes, but it looks and feels great once on. Looking forward to next Burns Supper!
Am looking forward to wearing my new Argyll jacket and vest at the next Burns Supper (my first!). Exceptional value. Good fit.
I purchased the Argyll Jacket for a wedding I was in. The jacket has a great look and feel. The jacket fit fine over a slim fit tailored shirt with the waist vest, but I had to have the sleeves hemmed (I’m 5’7”), and the vest altered because it was a little more snug fitting then the jacket. The tailor just added about an inch and a half ribbon to the vest, and then it fit fine.
I love my argyll jacket and wore it for my wedding. I looked and looked online for a jacket in my size and I found this one a week before the big day. It got here just in time. I emailed Seamus to let him know about my timeline and he assured Sport Kilt would come through.
Not my first order with Sport Kilt and DEFINITELY not my last. Had questions and concerns prior to placing my order - my email was answered promptly and professionally - I immediately thereafter placed my order. Like every other order I've place here, it arrived professionally packaged, well protected and lightning fast. Wore it to a theater event this weekend - only one there dress in a kilt and got nothing but GREAT reactions and comments - all wanted to know from where I had my clothing "imported" - I of course passed out the Sport Kilt name and web address. thanks again Sport Kilt for keeping me looking sharp.
I received this Argyll Jacket and Vest last week and had occasion to wear it last night for the first time to a concert. I ordered a 42 even though I wear a 40. The vest fit was just right, with the jacket being a bit big, but not enough to require alterations. The material is somewhat lightweight, which is fine for South Texas. Buttoning and unbuttoning the vest can be a bit challenging because of the shape of the buttons, so a little patience is required. Overall, I am very pleased with the quality. This jacket/vest present a very striking appearance. Well worth the investment...not to mention the great service and lightning-fast shipping.
Great jacket. It made me look younger, sexier and handsomer as well as increased my ability to sing the high notes. I looked great at a rugby function and all the men let me know it. Which was uncomfortable. Worn with a kilt and the vest you can look really Scottish. Jacket is well-made and material is substantial.
When I received my Argyll jacket and vest last month, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and construction of the both items. Excellent value for the money especially when considering that this is not something one would be wearing on a daily or weekly basis. The Argyll is less dressy and thus more versatile than the Prince Charlie. As some have noted, the buttons do have rather sharp ends, so care must be taken when buttoning and unbuttoning them, but this has not been an issue for me. I wear a 40-41 in most jackets, and the 42 Argyll jacket and vest both fit nicely requiring no alterations. I was so pleased with these items that I have since placed another order with Sports Kilt...a company with great products and superior customer service.
