Armstrong Original Sport Kilt
Armstrong Original Sport Kilt
Strong, distinctive, and rooted in Scottish Border history, the Armstrong Original Sport Kilt brings the character of the Armstrong tartan together with the lightweight comfort and versatility of Sport Kilt’s Original design.
Clan Armstrong has deep roots in Liddesdale along the Scottish Borders and became known for strength, loyalty, and resilience. One clan legend tells of Fairbairn, whose powerful arm saved his king in battle and helped inspire the Armstrong name. The tartan carries that same sense of courage and an unvanquished spirit.
Traditional Style. Everyday Comfort.
The Original Sport Kilt is designed for people who want the look of a traditional tartan kilt without the weight and formality of heavy wool. Its pleated construction gives you freedom of movement, while the secure Velcro waistband makes it easy and comfortable to wear throughout the day.
Whether you’re heading to Highland games, a Scottish festival, wedding, Renaissance fair, Celtic gathering, or simply want to represent your Armstrong heritage, this kilt is ready for the occasion.
Pair it with a T-shirt and boots for a casual look, or add kilt hose, a sporran, belt, and jacket when the event calls for something more traditional.
Customize Your Armstrong Kilt
Make your Armstrong Sport Kilt your own with available options such as:
- Sewn-down pleats for a cleaner, more tailored profile
- Leather or nylon buckle straps for extra security and traditional styling
- Belt loops for your favorite belt or sporran chain
- Two hidden side pockets for convenient everyday storage
- Fringe along the opening edge for added character
- Custom length for a personalized fit
Easy to Wear. Easy to Care For.
The Armstrong Original Sport Kilt is designed to be worn often. Machine wash it in cold water with similar colors, then tumble dry on low or hang it to dry. For especially crisp pleats, the fabric can be carefully pressed with an iron at approximately 75% heat.
If your kilt has leather buckle straps, dry cleaning is recommended to help protect the leather.
Find Your Best Fit
For the best fit, measure around your waist exactly where you want the top of the kilt to sit rather than relying on your normal pants size. Your actual kilt measurement will often be about two inches larger than your usual pants size.
For traditional length, kneel and measure from your kilt waist to the floor. Your preferred finished length is ultimately up to you.
Stitched in America
The Armstrong Original Sport Kilt is stitched in America and built to combine Scottish heritage with modern comfort, durability, and customization.
Whether you’re honoring Clan Armstrong, attending your next Highland gathering, or simply looking for a great-looking tartan kilt that’s comfortable enough to wear all day, the Armstrong Original Sport Kilt is ready for the job.
Choose your size, select your options, and wear the Armstrong tartan with pride.
Care Instructions
You can machine wash your kilt with similar colors on cold; tumble dry on low or hang to dry. For the sharpest pleats, press with an iron on 75% heat setting.
Please Note: If your kilt has leather buckle straps, we recommend dry cleaning as the leather will dry out with machine washing/drying.

The Perfect Fit
Finding your waist size
Using a measuring tape, wrap it around your waist where you’d like the top of your kilt to sit. Don’t hold in your stomach. This measurement is usually 2″ larger than the size of your pants. You might consider giving yourself an extra inch, or so, for comfort. Take your waist measurement (in actual inches) and see where it falls in our size grid below.
Finding your length
The ideal kilt length for you: While kneeling, measure from the top of your waist (where you’d wear your kilt) to the floor. Some say your kilt should just brush against the ground when you are kneeling. Of course personal preference is the rule! Have it YOUR way.
