Green Zone Original Sport Kilt
Green Zone Original Sport Kilt
Go bold without being tied to a specific clan in the Green Zone Original Sport Kilt. Created as a universal modern tartan, Green Zone celebrates teamwork, adventure, camaraderie, and personal expression while keeping the unmistakable look of traditional plaid. (Sport Kilt)
Built in Sport Kilt’s Original style, this versatile men’s kilt combines classic pleated construction with the comfort and functionality needed for festivals, sporting events, Highland Games, travel, and everyday wear. (Sport Kilt)
A Modern Tartan for Everyone
Not every tartan needs centuries of clan history behind it.
The Green Zone tartan was created as a bold, universal pattern for people who want to embrace tartan tradition without choosing a clan-specific design. Its energetic look reflects the spirit of competition and camaraderie, making it an especially strong choice for teams, groups, sporting events, and anyone who simply loves a distinctive green plaid. (Sport Kilt)
That versatility makes Green Zone easy to wear for:
- Highland Games
- Scottish and Celtic festivals
- Sporting events and game days
- Team gatherings
- Renaissance fairs
- Concerts
- Weddings
- Parades
- Travel
- Outdoor events
- Pub nights
- Everyday wear
Pair it with a black shirt and boots for a clean modern look, or add a sporran, belt, kilt hose, flashes, or jacket when you want more traditional Highland styling.
Classic Sport Kilt Comfort
The Green Zone Original Sport Kilt gives you traditional kilt style in a design made for real-world use.
Every Sport Kilt is pleated and secured with Velcro at the waistband, creating a comfortable, straightforward fit that is easy to put on and wear throughout the day. (Sport Kilt)
The clean front apron puts the Green Zone tartan on full display, while the pleated construction gives the kilt freedom of movement and the familiar Highland silhouette.
Customize Your Green Zone Kilt
One of the biggest advantages of the Original Sport Kilt is the ability to build it around the way you want to wear it. The Green Zone is available with options including sewn-down pleats, buckle straps, belt loops, fringe, hidden pockets, and custom length. (Sport Kilt)
Sewn-Down Pleats
For a cleaner, more fitted appearance, choose sewn-down pleats. The first 4–5 inches of each pleat are stitched vertically along the knife edge from the waistband, giving the kilt a more refined silhouette and making the pleats easier to maintain and press. (Sport Kilt)
Buckle Closure
Add two 1-inch black leather straps with nickel-plated buckles for extra security and a more traditional look. Nylon buckle straps are also available. The buckles work alongside the standard Velcro waistband rather than replacing it. (Sport Kilt)
Sport Kilt recommends pairing buckle straps with sewn-down pleats for a particularly polished finished appearance. (Sport Kilt)
Hidden Side Pockets
Need somewhere for your phone, wallet, or keys? Add two hidden side pockets. They’re designed to blend into the kilt so you get practical storage without disrupting the clean exterior appearance. (Sport Kilt)
Belt Loops & Fringe
Optional belt loops let you wear your favorite belt or thread a traditional sporran chain through them. Fringe can also be added along the opening side of the kilt for an extra touch of Highland character. (Sport Kilt)
Easy to Care For
The Green Zone Original Sport Kilt is designed for regular wear and straightforward maintenance.
Machine wash it cold with similar colors, then tumble dry on low or hang it to dry. For especially sharp pleats, Sport Kilt recommends pressing with an iron at approximately 75% heat. (Sport Kilt)
If you add leather buckle straps, dry cleaning is recommended because repeated machine washing and drying can dry out the leather. (Sport Kilt)
Get the Right Fit
For waist sizing, measure around the exact point where you want the top of the kilt to sit rather than relying only on your normal pants size. Sport Kilt notes that this measurement is typically about 2 inches larger than your pants size, with a little extra room optional for comfort. (Sport Kilt)
For length, kneel and measure from the desired waistband position to the floor. Traditionally, the hem should come close to brushing the ground while kneeling, although personal preference ultimately determines the ideal length. (Sport Kilt)
Standard sizing currently ranges from 25–30 inches at the waist for Small through 47–54 inches for XXL, with custom length available. (Sport Kilt)

Care Instructions
You can machine wash your kilt with similar colors on cold; tumble dry on low or hang to dry. For the sharpest pleats, press with an iron on 75% heat setting.
Please Note: If your kilt has leather buckle straps, we recommend dry cleaning as the leather will dry out with machine washing/drying.

The Perfect Fit
Finding your waist size
Using a measuring tape, wrap it around your waist where you’d like the top of your kilt to sit. Don’t hold in your stomach. This measurement is usually 2″ larger than the size of your pants. You might consider giving yourself an extra inch, or so, for comfort. Take your waist measurement (in actual inches) and see where it falls in our size grid below.
Finding your length
The ideal kilt length for you: While kneeling, measure from the top of your waist (where you’d wear your kilt) to the floor. Some say your kilt should just brush against the ground when you are kneeling. Of course personal preference is the rule! Have it YOUR way.
