ADDRESS THE HAGGIS!
This January 25th, Sport Kilt celebrates the wonderfully weird and unmistakably Scottish tradition, Burns Night. Whether you’re attending a supper held by a formal Burns Club or hosting one yourself, here’s what you can expect as you raise a toast to the legendary Scottish poet, Robert Burns:
TRADITIONAL MEAL
Enter the haggis in all its resplendent glory. Burns himself penned an ode to this gutsy delicacy, a poem entitled “To A Haggis,” which is read in its entirety before the dinner is passed around and whisky is consumed liberally.
TRADITIONAL TOAST
A keynote speaker regales the gathered guests with a Burns tale, then raises a glass to His Immortal Memory. Celebrations continue into the evening, including toasts to the women and men in the room, delivered by each’s opposite sex.
