TARTAN CONTEST WINNERS!
Thank you to all who participated in this year’s Tartan Contest. We were blown away by your designs and your stories, and it wasn’t easy to pick our favorites.
A few tartans really caught our eye, though. So congratulations to this year’s winners!
Brad Wilson | Suicide Awareness Tartan
Dedicated to those who fight the invisible battle every day. Teal and purple are the colors used to represent Suicide Awareness and feature prominently in this design along with a hopeful white stripe that breaks apart the dark streaks.
Christine O’Connell | O’Connell’s Revenge
Colours in this tartan have been inspired by my Irish heritage, my passion for the Highland games and my mission to heal back into vitality and strength in preparation for the Scottish Masters World Championships in June. Currently I am at home recovering from transformative major skin removal surgery after a massive weight loss. The Highland games were a major contributing force to my success in achieving a healthier lifestyle including losing over 140 lbs. I am determined to heal and return to our sport with the intensity, grit and fire that is true to my character.
Joe McDonough | 3rd Battalion 9th Marines
Tartan Colors represent Scarlet and Gold of the U.S. Marine Corps, Jungle Green, Desert Tan, Black in honor of those we have lost. The 3rd Battalion, 9th Marines (3/9) is an infantry battalion of the United States Marine Corps. Formed during World War I it served until the early 1990s when it was redesignated as 3rd Battalion, 4th Marines. 3/9 was reactivated under the 2nd Marine Division in May 2008 as the Marines expanded as a result of the continuing War on Terror.
