Farquharson

Clan Motto: Fide et Fortitudine “By Faith and Fortitude”

Clan Farquharson, a proud Scottish clan with deep roots in the Highlands, traces its origins to Farquhar, the fourth son of Alexander Ciar, the Shaw of Rothiemurchus, in the early 15th century. The clan gained prominence in the 16th century under the leadership of Finlay Mor Farquharson, who was a key figure in the Battle of Pinkie Cleugh in 1547. Known for their loyalty to the Stewart monarchy, the Farquharsons were staunch supporters of the Jacobite uprisings, notably fighting at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. The clan’s tartan, with its distinctive red, green, and blue pattern, is a symbol of its rich heritage and resilience.
